JOB TITLE: Oh Henry Internship Advisor (Part-Time)

 

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:  Director of Career and Technical Education

 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:  The Oh Henry Internship Advisor is responsible for providing certain 12th grade students at each high school with an internship experience. The students will be divided between the two high schools.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Collaborates with local business owners.
  • Collaborates with the guidance department.
  • Assigns student internship placements.
  • Assists students with creating a portfolio and resume.
  • Monitors student workplace experience and performance bi-weekly.
  • Promotes benefits of internships to guidance, administration, and students at both high schools, to increase participation.
  • Communicates expectations with administration, guidance, and central office staff. Establishes deadlines for all material to be completed and returned to schools.
  • Establishes innovative ways for students to participate in real world experiences outside of the school setting.
  • Performs other duties as required.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Successful candidate must hold a bachelor's degree. Effective communication skills are essential to the success of this program. Work experience in a school setting is preferred.

This is sedentary work requiring the exertion of up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects, and some light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Work requires reaching, pushing, and pulling, use of hands to grasp, handle or feel, fine manipulation, and repetitive motions. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operation of office equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities. The worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions.

Salary: Rate of pay will be $300 per student up to a maximum of $25,000 for the school year.
