JOB TITLE: School Nutrition Manager

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Director of School Nutrition Programs

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The position is responsible for the coordination, supervision and management of the school nutrition program and operations.  The position works 190 days per year, coinciding with the school instructional calendar.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical job requirements include the exertion of 50 lbs. of force occasionally, up to 20 lbs. of force frequently and up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.  Work requires kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting and grasping.  Must be able to hear normal spoken word levels, communicate vocally, and have visual acuity to read and prepare reports, operate machinery, measure ingredients and observe surroundings and activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Responsible for the operations of the school nutrition program.
• Develops and maintains an effective school nutrition program consistent with state and federal guidelines and the philosophy, policies and goals of the school board; meeting and conferring with students, parents, faculty and staff; maintaining records and files; preparing reports.
• Responsible for the overall administration of the school nutrition program; interpret and enforce school and school division policies and regulations; staff training; food production and service.
• Conducts regular inventories of supplies, orders supplies, oversees maintenance of production records and completes financial records as required by the director.
• Plans daily work schedule with Assistant Manager.
• Performs related work as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or equivalency and 2-3 years school nutrition experience or commensurate experience in restaurant or other food service management.  Certification through the School Nutrition Association within 1 year of hire date.  

BEGINNING SALARY: $16,851
