JOB TITLE:  Full-Time ELL Tutor

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:  Principal

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:  

English Language Learner (ELL) Tutors function as a facilitating agent for the successful integration of non-English speaking students into the English language instructional environment of the school system. They shall interview, assess, evaluate, and determine the specific needs of all incoming and continuing students whose primary native language is other than English. Using this information, the ELL Tutors serve as resource staff for ELL student.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• ELL Tutors facilitate helping  ELL students acquire the skills and becoming proficient in the English language.
• Tutors give adjunct instruction to the ELL student.
• These requests are generally initiated by the classroom teacher. The purpose of this activity is to convey more efficiently to the student the curricular content required by the SOL's.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university or completion of 48 credit hours from an accredited college or university or passing score on the ParaPro examination.

SALARY RANGE:  $19,358 - $27,579
