JOB TITLE: Speech Language Pathologist

 

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Principal and Director of Special Education & Related Services

 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under the direction of the Director of Special Education, the school-based speech language pathologist’s purpose is to remediate, ameliorate, and produce functional and measurable changes in student communication problems and related disabilities so that the student may participate as fully as possible in all aspects of life, educational, social, and vocational opportunities.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Must hold or be eligible to obtain a valid school speech-language pathologist license issued by the Virginia Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology.

This is light work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Work requires reaching, pushing, and pulling, use of hands to grasp, handle or feel, fine manipulation, and repetitive motions. Vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Visual acuity is required for preparing and analyzing written or computer data, operation of office equipment, determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work, and observing general surroundings and activities. The worker is not subject to adverse environmental conditions.
