JOB TITLE: School Nutrition Assistant Manager

 

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: School Nutrition Manager

 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:  The position is responsible for assisting the school nutrition manager in the coordination, supervision and management of the school nutrition program and operation. The position works 181 days per year, coinciding with the school instructional calendar. Position is scheduled to work 6 hours per day with benefits. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

 

• Assumes responsibility for the operations of the school nutrition program in the absence of the manager.
• Assists in regular inventories of food & supplies, and helps with orders for food and supplies, oversees maintenance of production records and completes financial records as required by the director.
• Plans daily work schedule with the School Nutrition Manager.
• Supervises all production workstations and provides assistance as needed. Will be "hands-on" during production period of day.
• Maintains all required records and files
• Performs other duties as required.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

High School Diploma or equivalency and 2-3 years school nutrition experience or other management experience in the foodservice industry. Holds Certificate through the School Nutrition Association or is willing to earn certificate within six months of hire.

This is medium work requiring the exertion of 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work requires kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, and repetitive motions. Hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels. Visual acuity is required for the use of measuring devices, operation of machines, and determining the accuracy and thoroughness of work. The worker is subject to extreme heat, noise, hazards, and atmospheric conditions.
